Inexcusable for her to write that, it only reflects on her, and very sadly, with such a nasty hurtful tone. So sorry you have these bursts of terrible negativity thrust on you, would like to send a forcefield so they bounce right off into space. Don't let it get you down.

It is another beautiful day outside, the world can be good and bright and kind and forgiving. Families can be loving. Onward, upward and forward, sending you positive thoughts.

    Just like Whac-a-Mole.

    Nice.

With depravity like that in your gene pool, I'd say you got off lucky just getting cancer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Best wishes to you and your family

    Yeesh. Love the all-caps too.

I can say that despite all the crap I've had to tolerate with my own cancer, your sad stories about the way your parents in particularly have treated you and your family (and long before your diagnosis too) remind me how good my relatives and friends have been to me. And to be thankful for that.

I'm glad you have other people who are your real, supportive family, and I know sharing your stories with the rest of us has certainly been helpful — even if I couldn't always read them in full because descriptions of chemo bring on my nausea surprisingly easily these days. I hope the tales of my experiences (and others') have helped you in some way too.

I'm also glad you're not keeping the vitriol from your parents under wraps, as so many would do. It helps everyone see what's happening, and has them hoist by their own petard too.

I'll also point out that it's only “SLANDER” if it's untrue. :)

Hmm, do 'they' really say, “It's time for you to put on your big-girl panties”? I haven't heard that one before. Live and spurn, I advise.

Thanks, Derek. And thanks for sharing your own experience. It has, indeed, helped me.

I continue to beam you good vibes daily,

Uh, ya. And while we're at it, where's all this “HATRED”? We haven't breathed a word of response via phone, email, postal mail and certainly not in person to these two in years so I'm assuming all the slander and hatred must be on this blog…..

Maybe she misread the “Happiness Is..” post category name as “HATRED Is…”. Actually, maybe I should add that category.

    Thanks, Amy. I agree completely.

Thank you, Linda. This journey has given me much more of a forcefield than I've ever had before. After all I've been through in these six months, the nasty actions of these two feeble miscreants have much less impact on me than they've had in the past.

I wish I could reach out and hug you right now. Please know that there are lots of people sending healing thoughts, good vibes, and love your way. And I'm one of them.

Andrea…thanks for your honesty. That must be really difficult to receive a message like that from your own flesh and bones . Makes me sad..I thought I would enclose a great link on the whole area of forgiveness… it is from on my favorite podcasts Speaking of Faith http://speakingoffaith.publicradio.org/programs

The journey of compassion and forgiveness is what makes us truly human…we have all experienced rejection and lack of support at key times in our lives…I am glad that your own family- mark & the kids and your close friends are living proof of love & compassion..we all need that!

Thanks for following our story, Alan, for your kind words and for sharing this resource.

I will definitely give it a listen. I'm especially intrigued by: “science is also revealing that human beings are more instinctively equipped for forgiveness than we've perhaps given ourselves credit for.”

As for my honesty, I think we'd all be happier if we were more open and honest about our challenges and, while I've always aimed for authenticity and transparency, my diagnosis has really made sharing our common human frailties a top priority for me. I do hope it helps others — being authentic and transparent definitely helps me.

Thanks again for your kind wishes. Be well,

Thank you for your healing thoughts, love and good vibes, Tricia! I know they are helping. And, until we meet again in person, I will gladly accept your cyber-hug.
