I find all these analyses questionable, because they don't provide any statistics. If I were you, I'd keep eating the peanut butter: I expect your body needs the nutrition far more than it needs to avoid whatever slightly elevated risk peanuts might contribute.

    Thank you, Derek.

I really do feel like I'm taking CRAZY pills when I try to do the right thing and the right thing changes with every flippin snippet I read.

On the other hand… Just about everything can give you cancer (or prevent cancer, or cure it) according to the UK's Daily Mail: http://kill-or-cure.heroku.com/

Just in the “a” section, alcohol, asprin and allergies both cause AND prevent cancer. That is cool.

Ya. I've been drinking matcha green tea by the gallon since my diagnosis. I froth it up and drink it as a latte — which has been one of my last remaining “treats”.

I started making it with soy milk, but early on learned that soy may imitate estrogen and therefore feed my type of breast cancer. So I switched to organic milk. (making it with straight water is too bitter and turns the drink from a “treat” to just another supplement chore)

I have just read — minutes ago — that drinking green tea with milk completely nullifies its cancer-fighting properties.

I'm beginning to think that arsenic may be my only freakin sure food choice.

Many (though not all) of the sites promoting or denigrating certain types of food also have an agenda behind them, usually to promote some other sort of food or supplement or lifestyle or something, and often to make money doing it. I continue to follow the “everything in moderation” route, because I've got enough stress already without having to worry about every single thing I put in my mouth.

Then again, because I have metastatic tumours all through my lungs, I could probably take up smoking right now and it might not make a difference to my long-term prospects! (Not that I'm interested, but it's a funny idea.)

It's sort of like what “Last Lecture” author Randy Pausch said when he figured out his cancer was terminal, and probably fairly soon: “Well, at least I don't have to go to the dentist anymore.”

Neither of us is in quite that boat, but there's something strangely freeing about thinking that way if the time comes.
